KA1 2016 Windsurfing Placement

Landon Carver has secured funding for one more windsurfing placement! This once in a life time opportunity for one person must be used before November 2016 so we are delighted to offer a placement for one luck candidate from September to October in Fuerteventura.

Landon Carver’s latest Windsurfing Placements for staff from the Outdoor Adventure and Education Sector in Ireland. This opportunity provides funding for a lucky candidates to spend 60 days immersed in ION Club (formerly Club Mistral) centres in Spain. Candidates will spend time learning from ION Club’s experienced staff, a multitude of clients and students from a wide variety of social backgrounds and sectors.

This candidate will be given the opportunity to work in ION Club centres for 60 day.

The funding covers all associated travel costs, insurance, some branded clothing, a subsistence amount as well as accommodation for the duration of the stay.

Participants will experience, observe and learn techniques and systems within the design, delivery and development of outdoor educational programmes that will enhance and impact the service they deliver in their workplaces in Ireland.

Successful candidates will be scheduled to work in a number of areas including instruction, equipment maintenance and distribution. They will also shadow instructors and sit in on briefings.

During the placement participants will:

  • Be provided with a practical enhancement of their existing skills which can be transferred to the workplace in Ireland specifically to enhance the delivery of QQI Level 5 and 6 programs
  • Enhance networking skills and build relationships with like-minded outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Increase technical ability in wind/kite surfing.
  • Provide exposure to different cultures.
  • Improve language skills.
  • Provide a Euro Pass mobility certificate.
  • Gain a QQI/FETAC Level 5 in Work Experience.

Participants Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support of the centre manager (Opening, cleaning the centre, taking bookings, general office work).
  • Instruction of clients (giving professional wind or kite surfing tuition to clients, taking responsibility for client safety and scheduling lessons).
  • Equipment management (covers the maintenance and repair of equipment and taking responsibility for equipment during lessons).
  • Guest care services (establishing a good relationship with clients, ensuring they enjoy the wind/kite surfing experience).
  • Promotion of the centre and its services.

Selection Requirements

  • All candidates must work for an organisation active in the field of VET (QQI level 5 and 6) and be in charge of VET such as teachers, trainers, international mobility officers, staff with administrative or guidance functions, etc. (If you need clarification please don’t hesitate to contact us).
  • Candidates must be over 18.
  • Candidates must be put forward to the programme by their organisation who must supply Landon Carver with a letter confirming their status and stating that within their organisation they are involved in mentoring people on work placements. A sample letter can be attained from Landon Carver and must be printed on the company’s paper and signed by a senior figure in the organisation.
  • Candidates must have a keen enthusiasm for working in the outdoors.
  • Candidates must have the ability to provide references from at least three sources.
  • Candidates must hold an in-date and open EU passport.
  • Candidates must the ability and availability to travel to Spain for the time period specified.
  • Candidates must never have been asked by the authorities to leave
  • Spain, or any of its associated territories.
  • Hold an in-date EHIC/E1-11 card (or be able to attain one in time for the placement).

It is not essential, but desirable for all candidates to:

  • Have experience of facilitation of learning in the outdoors.
  • Have language Skills in Spanish/German.
  • Be able to provide Garda clearance.
  • Have completed First Aid training.
