The Team Leader Program 2016

Following from the huge success of our inaugural Team Leader program in 2015 Landon Carver are delighted to announce we are now accepting applications for places on our latest Erasmus + funded program with Action Outdoors.

This programme designed in conjunction with Action Outdoors provides a once in a life time opportunity to VET professionals working in the outdoor industry who are involved in the delivery and implementation of QQI Level 5 or 6 programs. This opportunity provides funding for 8 candidates to spend 14 days in Chamonix with Action Outdoors attaining the knowledge skills and competencies required to design, develop and deliver work placement programs in an outdoor environment. The program culminates with a self-guided expedition ensuring the candidates have the skills to effectively and safely bring a group to an outdoor setting like Chamonix.

Candidates over a 14-day period will spend time learning from Action Outdoors & UCPA’s experienced staff, gaining valuable insight into the development and delivery of guided adventure programs in the stunning surroundings of Chamonix and Mount Blanc.

Successful candidates will take part in the multi-activity educational adventure gaining insight into a number of areas such as group preparation, skills demonstration, group awareness, time management, group living and team work. It was well planned, well structured and extremely well run. An all round professionally run programme often met with the difficult task of having to adapt the content to suit a wide range of abilities and experience. It is quite rare to satisfy a group of individuals from such varied backgrounds with such varied activities but your team did just that and I congratulate you on that. The trip has narrowed the gap between running activity based programmes in Ireland and in Europe. I am in the process of organising an expedition style trip to the Alps with a youth group, before the Landon Carver Team Leader Program I would have never had the confidence to do. ” – Pearse O’Toole
